New Music Plus… is a professional development programme, developed in partnership by the hub and the PRS for Music Foundation, which aims to strengthen leadership skills and cross art-form learning amongst arts organisations and independent music producers. A pilot programme ran in London in 2009 and in 2010 the programme moves its focus to the North West.
In 2009 we worked with MusicLeader, Youth Music’s pioneering workforce development programme, to evaluate its impact on the music leading workforce, provide an up-to-date analysis of this workforce, and provide recommendations around the programme’s strategic development. Informed by our findings and recommendations, MusicLeader recently unveiled a new strategy, designed to maximise its reach and impact as the network expands to provide a national programme.
In March 2010, the Mayor of London launched Making Music Matter, a music education strategy for London. Find out more about the first ever Mayor’s Music Education Summit, produced by the hub in January 2009, which kick-started the development of the strategy.
