Carolyn McBain - Intern
Back to People at the hub »

With a background in psychology, and an MA in Cultural and Creative Industries from London’s Kings College, Carolyn McBain is the ideal person to undertake our current Intern Research Project. With expertise in the phenomenology of space and the ingredients that contribute to the success of creative environments, she is a most welcome edition to the hub team. During her studies she completed an inspired examination of the creative environment in Shoreditch and its contributing factors. Her aspiration is to become a practitioner and consultant within the field of creative-led regeneration.
She has worked within a range of creative environments including a consultation project for Metal, investigating potential uses of the public space which surrounds Arsenals Emirates stadium. As a result of the findings, she organised a community event ‘Sing Arsenal’, which was delivered in conjunction with the Sing London festival, which engaged the Islington community in a celebration of the areas rich footballing heritage and history. She was also involved in the ‘Eye & I’ project at the Helen Storey Foundation, which fused art and science to explore authentic emotion and its impact on social interactions.
Carolyn hopes to develop her understanding of arts funding, research and project development whilst at the hub, and to continue to contribute to initiatives that blur the distinction between art, culture and community.
