Culturally diverse music strategy for the South West

the hub was commissioned in early 2005 by Arts Council England, South West to develop a plan for supporting culturally diverse music in the region.
In order to develop this plan, we consulted widely, asking in excess of 500 promoters, producers, artists, agents, managers, educators, development workers, record label managers and distributors to tell us what their needs, ambitions and challenges were, as well as what they thought could best help them to overcome these challenges and realise their ambitions. We did this via an on-line survey, one-to-one interviews and focus groups. Following this widespread consultation we developed draft recommendations, which we subsequently road tested via focus groups and one-to-one interviews.
Our findings and recommendations formed the basis of two final documents we prepared for ACE SW: one an internal report, containing detailed findings, recommendations and a timetable, and the other a public-facing strategy, based on the contents of the internal report.
