About us

We think. We do. We learn. We share.

the hub is a dynamic and entrepreneurial arts and creative enterprise development practice, which brings together a team of highly skilled, industry savvy consultants, researchers, producers and trainers.

Our work divides into five areas: research, consultancy, skills development, live events and digital projects. As a team we’re all ‘culturally curious’, so we initiate our own projects, through which we respond to issues that we believe are important and explore creative opportunities which excite us. We also work with a range of clients, from individual artists and small businesses to sectoral bodies, public sector agencies and charities.

Our core values: knowledge, new ideas, excitement, enabling and sharing

At the hub of the hub is our mission and a set of values:

  • the hub develops new thinking and practice in the arts;
  • We create and work on projects that excite us;
  • We enable others to better meet their potential;
  • We share our knowledge to improve our cultural landscape.

A ‘think and do tank’

the hub is different from other research agencies and consultancy firms. Our development-focused business model gives us the agility to be proactive and set our own agenda. In addition, our ‘think and do tank’ approach is fundamental to our business philosophy and practice; every team member not only brings their individual specialism to our research and consultancy projects; they also work on our live events or digital projects, or maintain their own creative practice. Combining these ‘think’ and ‘do’ functions keeps our ‘tools’ sharp, again sets us apart from other researchers and consultants, and gives us first hand experience of the context in which our partners, clients and peers are operating.

This model is absolutely crucial to our ability to develop new thinking and practice, for ourselves and for our clients and partners. We think and do in order to learn, and we share with our partners, clients and peers what we learn. We work in this way because we value our independence, because we’re excited by ideas, and because we’re motivated by a desire to develop our cultural landscape.

We’re always up for discussing new ideas. If you’ve got an idea you’d like to talk to us about, or if you’d like to find out more about working with us, call Julia Payne on +44 (0)207 377 1373 or email her at julia@thehubuk.com
